Dreams Sugar Bay - St. Thomas

Dreams Sugar Bay January 2015

The physical property is very nice.  The location is wonderful; right on the bay looking across to St. John and Jost Van Dyke.  A five-dollar cab ride of no more than ten minutes gets you to the ferry to St. John.  That ferry ride is $7 each way, and lasts about fifteen minutes.  The airport ride is around a half hour and costs $15 each way.  Downtown to the capital is about twenty minutes at a cost of $10 each way.  We found the downtown to be not much to our liking.  It is quite crowded with lots of people hawking their wares on the streets.  There are many, many jewelry stores with good pricing due to the duty free nature of the island. See more here......

Jamaica - RIU Negril

Jamaica was wonderful! We all had a great time. Darin took our daughters deep sea fishing, and one of them reeled in a 5’, 42lb Wahoo fish!

The Riu Negril was nice, but the nightly entertainment was not so good. Flying out of Lansing was great! Easy in and out. The weather was sunny & 85 degrees almost everyday.

Thank you for all your help and another great vacation!

Punta Cana - Secrets Royal Beach

It was great!  Ride from airport only about 20 min.  Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana  very nice = only complaint was our room was on the backside of the resort, so there was a security guard right outside our room - my wife wouldn't use the jacuzzi - he was there all the time.

Beach was nice, food excellent.  We snorkeled, zip lined and did the Bavaro Runner trip which was very interesting. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.  We would go back but may try something different next time - possibly Secrets Montego Bay.

Thanks again,

- Jon

Playa del Carmen - Gran Porto Real

We had a fabulous time! We loved the resort! We had discussed our two previous experiences in Mexico coming to the conclusion that this was our best experience yet! We had been to the Omni, which was very nice but we both agreed we liked Gran Porto Real better. We have also been to the Park Royal and that didn't compare. Both of those being in Cancun.

Check in was quick and easy getting the room and the king bed requested. Reviews complained about the selection of food but we didn't find that to be true. While the buffet had some recurring items it still offered different selections daily. They offered a 24 hour  cafe type thing that our boys used quite often.... Self serve food, drinks, adult beverages & beer tap as well as coffee.   Also included was room service and a room refrigerator that was kept stocked daily with water, sodas and beer. Our room was kept impeccably clean! Beautiful room and true to pictures.

There were plenty of activities going on for kids of all ages. The guys running the pool activities were great! Very personable and connected with all types of guest, trying to include anyone that was interested. We did find the game room came in handy when the boys didn't want to sit around and wait for us to get ready for dinner. We felt VERY safe on this resort with our youngest (10) being able to maneuver here and there by himself somewhat. Really, truly I'm pretty picky and usually find something I don't like but that was not the case here. No complaints only compliments!

The beach... Yes there are sand bags and the water is pretty rocky. That was a little downside but we both agreed this resort has so much going for them that it didn't affect it much.

Thank you for all of your help with our trip! We will be seeing you late summer to plan our next adventure!

- Maggie
